Choosing an ERP for a trading company in Saudi Arabia: a checklist

Ten questions to ask before you choose an ERP or accounting system for a Saudi trading business.

A trading company lives on three numbers: what it has in stock, what customers owe it, and the margin on every sale. The right system keeps all three correct without anyone re-typing data. Use this checklist when you compare options.

The checklist

  • Is ZATCA Phase 2 built in — clearance and reporting — or a separate add-on?
  • Does it work fully in Arabic, with right-to-left screens and bilingual invoices?
  • Does stock move the books? Receipts, deliveries and invoices should post their cost automatically.
  • Can you see stock by warehouse, and track batches and expiry dates if you need to?
  • Can it prepare the VAT return from your posted documents?
  • Can you control purchases with approvals and three-way matching?
  • Does payroll handle GOSI, end-of-service and the WPS file?
  • Can you import your existing customers, products and balances?
  • Can you add companies, currencies and users as you grow?
  • Is your data isolated, backed up and access-controlled?

Start with your daily flow

In any demo, ask to see your own daily flow: buy goods, receive them, sell them, deliver, invoice and collect — then look at the stock, the customer balance and the profit. If the system can show that clearly in ten minutes, it will save you hours every week.
